Basic requirements for admission to the Graduate Programs are established by the Graduate Faculty. The minimum requirements are following:
A baccalaureate or professional degree earned from a department of approved standing and granted by an accredited college or university.
A grade point average of "2.70" (on the basis of the 4.00 grading system of Tuskegee University) for all previous work is considered for conditional admission for good progress.
Prerequisite academic work which gives evidence that the applicant should be able to pursue effectively the graduate courses of the department in which specialization is desired. Prerequisites for graduate work in specific departments are set forth elsewhere in this catalog.
Three recommendations from persons acquainted with the applicant's academic program and scholastic ability should be provided. These recommendations should be forwarded directly to Tuskegee University in care of the Chairperson of the Department in which the applicant intends to specialize.
The College or Department may set higher standards than the minimum requirements. These standards are located under the admission requirements to the Colleges or department.
Applicants for admission and students currently enrolled in the graduate programs at Tuskegee University ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT SCORES ON THE APTITUDE AND THE ADVANCED PORTIONS OF THE GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION (GRE). The APTITUDE TEST contains both verbal and quantitative sections; and the ADVANCED TEST assesses achievement in the student's major field. While no specific score is required for admission by all Colleges, satisfactory results will give evidence of a student's scholastic potential and qualifications to handle graduate level studies in comparison with other applicants and currently enrolled graduate students.
Graduate Record Examination scores more than FIVE YEARS OLD are not acceptable as fulfillment of the GRE requirement.
The Graduate Record Examination is administered throughout the United States in October, December, February, April and June. Tuskegee University (Testing Office) administers the GRE in October, December and April. Detailed information and registration forms may be obtained from the Testing Office,
