The curriculum and requirements for admission conform to the standards set forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education. Applicants must present a minimum of three pre-professional years of college credits (100 semester credits or 152 quarter credits) and minimum cumulative and science grade point averages of 2.70 on a 4.00 scale or its equivalent from an accredited United States college or university. The college or university credits must include courses in the categories listed below. Grades of less than “C“ are not acceptable. Only science courses completed within six (6) academic years of the date of application will be considered. Additionally, courses taken on a pass/fail basis cannot be transferred for credit.
Minimum Course Requirements:
Applicants who have matriculated at non-US colleges and universities must comply with the above requirements and with those listed in the foreign applicants in the Tuskegee University Bulletin. These include evaluation of their transcripts by an independent agency and an appropriate test in English (TOEFL and/or TWE).
*NOTE: Applicants who have not completed the pre-veterinary medical course requirements, but expect to do so by the end of the spring term may apply for admission and receive provisional action.
*EFFECTIVE APPLICATION YEAR 2018:
• Applicants must complete ALL pre-veterinary course requirements PRIOR to applying to Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine via the VMCAS system.
• Applicants will be required to complete a minimum of 200 clinical contact hours with a licensed veterinarian.
• 1 credit hour of Medical Terminology will be REQUIRED as a prerequisite for admission.
