3. Mucosal Regions
The proventricular part is covered with stratified squamous epithelium and lines the are close to the cardia. The cardiac gland region lines the diverticulum, fundus and the proximal part of the body. The region of the proper gastric gland lines the area between the cardiac gland region and the pyloric gland region. It presents many brown-red folds. The pyloric gland region lines the pyloric part of the stomach.
Lymph nodules are present at the cardiac gland region.
