General Comparative Anatomy of the Stomach

Blood Supply and Innervation:

Blood supply: stomach is supplied by the three main branches of the celiac artery, the splenic, the left gastric and the hepatic artery.

The veins that drain the stomach are joined to form a trunk, which drains into the portal vein.

Innervation: The stomach is innervated by parasympathetic fibers from the dorsal and ventral vagal trunks, and sympathetic fibers from the sympathetic trunk. Both fibers enter into the formation of the celiac and cranial mesenteric plexuses.
